8:8 Lion's Gate Leo New Moon - Astrological Update, Intention Setting, & Journaling

It is an exciting time to be alive, and an exciting time for new beginnings.
Why am I so excited? Well, it’s summer, and despite the restriction we’re feeling with the Delta variant in play, the sun is radiating its light and warmth, vaccinated people are smiling and vacationing, and summer feels a lot more like “summer” than it did in 2020. Also, my wedding is 37 days away!
This is also an exciting time in astrology because the 8:8 Lion’s Gate Leo New Moon is upon us.
This is a New Moon to celebrate! Its “new beginning” energy is amplified and dramatized beyond that of a normal New Moon because of a few subtle and powerful forces:
It’s happening on August 8th, the 8th day of the 8th month. In numerology, the number 8 represents infinity and the infinite soul journey we are all on, giving this New Moon a potent spiritual charge.
It’s happening on the day the Lion’s Gate portal is officially activated. The Lion’s Gate portal is when the Sun in Leo aligns with the star, Sirius, also known as the “spiritual sun”. On 8/8, the Sun will radiate warmth and life through our physical bodies as Sirius radiates life and rejuvenation through our spiritual bodies. The Lion’s Gate portal is associated with heart healing, third eye opening, and psychic downloads, and the energy of Sirius can create dramatic new beginnings.
This New Moon is also reactivating the Saturn in Aquarius/Uranus in Taurus Square that is the astrological backdrop of 2021. This square (which began in November 2020 and will continue through 2022) is making us WORK to create liberating routines, to find freedom through structure, to experiment cautiously, and to find responsibility and balance in our freedom. Journaling & Intention Setting
New Moons are always a powerful time to set intentions for a new beginning, and this one is extra potent. If you have been feeling stuck, indifferent, unmotivated, or in limbo…let this Leo Lion’s Gate New Moon fill you with inner radiance, generosity, and exuberance as you step into your responsibilities to yourself and the collective.
I recommend giving your physical and spiritual body some time and space to rest and unwind this weekend. Meditate, drink water, and unplug from thoughts and activities that drain your energy.
On Sunday evening or Monday, consider clearing your space, lighting a candle, journaling, and setting a Leo New Moon intention. Below you’ll find some journaling questions to get your creative and intuitive juices flowing.

How often do you show off? List 3 things in your life that you could show off about, and do your best to use the most confident, prideful, expressive language you can muster! (Don’t worry, the only person who will ever see this is you.)
Is there anywhere in your life where are you neglecting to take responsibility? Responsibility and power go hand in hand. If you are feeling powerless in a specific situation, consider how taking responsibility can help you take your power back, and journal about it.
Is there a situation in your life that could benefit from more creativity or play? Write about the most creative, playful, or Leo-like way that you could respond to this situation.

Intention Setting:
Leo energy is creative, expressive, loving, playful, passionate, joyful, vibrant, courageous, strong, and powerful! This Leo New Moon is an opportunity to proudly and confidently radiate your most Leo-like self as you take kind and direct action to support, empower, and uplift yourself and others.
Meditate for a few minutes on what it would feel like to bring more of the proud, confident, vibrant, playful, expressive energy of Leo into your life.
Write down your intention as a clear and powerful commitment. “Today I commit to _____!”
Maybe you’ll commit to expressing your love for your partner in a more playful way. Perhaps you’ll commit to bringing your creative self-expression to the forefront of your career. Maybe you’ll commit to creative writing, or creative learning, or bringing more love and warmth into your conversations with others. I encourage you to use your journaling prompts as a guide for where you will be best-served by intentionally bringing the powerful energy of Leo into your life.
