Reminder: Your Voice Has Power

Today I’m sharing a story about the unbelievable power of the voice. My voice. Your voice. Any voice that wants to be heard.

On December 5, 2021, I posted a poem about one of my experiences with workplace sexual abuse at my former employer, BlackRock, on Medium. After I posted to Medium, I shared the poem through my LinkedIn page, which was followed by many of my former colleagues. That poem triggered a chain reaction of events that I never expected, and never could have dreamed up if I tried. As a result of my poem, my abuser is no longer employed by BlackRock.

New Moon In Capricorn - January 2, 2022

New Year, New Moon, New You

On January 2, 2022 at 1:33 pm, the Capricorn New Moon offers all of us an opportunity to plant a seed of growth and intention for the new year ahead.

The New Moon marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle, and is a period of time when the moon is completely dark in the sky. No light from the Sun is reflected off her surface.

In astrology, the moon represents our unconscious mind and emotions, and the sun represents our conscious mind. The total darkness of the New Moon offers us an opportunity to go deep within to connect with a place that can be felt, but not seen. Some may call this our intuitive mind, our nature, our instinctual self, or our true self. It doesn’t matter what you call it, it’s quite accessible at the New Moon.

The New Moon is a great time to make space to be alone with yourself and connect with your intuition. I like to journal at the New Moon and come up with intentions for soul growth, the deep kind of growth that doesn’t happen overnight. The kind of growth the universe guides us toward over the course of our lifetimes. And the kind that can be boosted with a little extra intention and self-reflection at pivotal times like the New Moon.

Capricorn Energy

The first New Moon of 2022 is in Capricorn – a cardinal earth sign which carries a very strong energy to initiate new things, and the discipline and practicality to accomplish that which you set in motion. Whatever area of your life is ruled by Capricorn is a very serious area, where you must do your work alone, follow the mature path, and put in the time and effort to develop mastery.

8:8 Lion's Gate Leo New Moon - Astrological Update, Intention Setting, & Journaling

Hello!

It is an exciting time to be alive, and an exciting time for new beginnings.

Why am I so excited? Well, it’s summer, and despite the restriction we’re feeling with the Delta variant in play, the sun is radiating its light and warmth, vaccinated people are smiling and vacationing, and summer feels a lot more like “summer” than it did in 2020. Also, my wedding is 37 days away!

This is also an exciting time in astrology because the 8:8 Lion’s Gate Leo New Moon is upon us.

This is a New Moon to celebrate! Its “new beginning” energy is amplified and dramatized beyond that of a normal New Moon because of a few subtle and powerful forces:

How I Aligned My Life with the Moon to Live More Intuitively

A few years ago, I became deeply committed to the idea of becoming my most natural self, because I knew that it would make my life feel easier to live. Prior to this, I spent a decade working in finance - living and breathing [unnatural] financial market cycles, living and breathing the patriarchy, and feeling stuck in a robotic and endless cycle of consumption.

I left that life because I was completely burned out, and I committed to living more creatively, more intentionally, and in alignment with my truth.

I wanted to be exactly who I was deep down inside me, but without all the limiting beliefs I picked up over the course of my life by listening to fear-driven advice from well-meaning others.

There were many “natural me” experiments. Some went really poorly, but most have stuck with me and become more and more useful and powerful over time.

Aligning with the Moon to Nurture My Nature

One of my natural experiments worked so well that it has become a lifestyle for me. By aligning my life with the cycles of the Moon, I have learned to nurture my feminine nature, my creative nature, and my intuitive nature. I have also become much more comfortable with the natural cycle of life - from creation, to maintenance, to destruction and ultimately transformation.

Working with Dark Moon Energy to Manage Transitions - Discussion and Journaling Prompts

I’ve been in the midst of a major life transition for a few years now, and I have become an avid Dark Moon releaser.

I’m an avid tracker of the entire Moon cycle (learn more about that here), but each month I truly look forward to the end of the cycle because I just love letting go of anything that no longer supports me. It’s not always an easy decision to let go, but it is always a valuable one. Letting go during the Dark Moon helps me to feel lighter, more connected to my natural self, and more confident. Whether I’m letting go of thought patterns, unsupportive habits, material goods, or relationships, I find that the Dark Moon phase of the monthly Moon cycle is truly the best time to let go.

Weekly Astrology Update: Monday, March 22 - Sunday, March 28

Happy Sunday, All!

I love to read the weekly astrology forecasts from Astrolore. I’ve been reading them for years and following her astrological guidance to navigate my way through the subtle energies of our universe.

I began studying astrology with her a couple of years ago, and she is now my astrology mentor. With her permission, I’ve summarized her weekly guidance for you to enjoy. You can find a link to the full forecast and Astrolore’s website here. I can’t recommend her services enough.

Monday: The moon is in Cancer today. Enjoy it by connecting with your warmth and sensitivity. Nurture others, create emotional security, and form loving connections.

Build Awareness: Are you feeling the need to offer protection to another, or to raise awareness that others need protection? Pay attention to the ways you are being called to be a voice for necessary reform in order to protect those who need protection. If you have your journal handy, take a few minutes to write about it. (Tip for later reflection: Remember to write the date on your entry!)

Let’s face it. The spiritual path can feel lonely at times.

Our soul journeys require us to break from our past, develop a sense of individuality, and differentiate from the harmful interpersonal, familial, and societal influences that no longer serve us.

These soul journeys require us to get clear on what we DO want in our lives, and to silence our inner critic that tells us that achieving our dreams is not possible.

Our soul journeys ask us to remember that we have the power to create our own destiny. They ask us to grow that power consciously through our daily practices and self-development.

Our soul journeys require us to be ever-present, fully conscious, and aware at all times so that we can stay in tune with our own physical, mental, and emotional needs, and aligned with our vision for our future.

While tuning into our own needs and getting in touch with our souls can ultimately provide us with the greatest source of comfort and security we have ever experienced, it can also feel lonely at times.
